As a child growing up in Cuba, I fell in love with Haiti. Haiti jumped from the pages of “The Kingdom of this World,” a novel that brought to life the Haitian Revolution. I couldn’t have know then that almost 30 years later, and living in the US, I would have the opportunity to work in Africa. Or that my passion for humanitarian work would be birthed there.
